Navigating the Back-to-School Season with Ease

The back-to-school season can be stressful for both kids and parents, with the demands of after-school activities, sports seasons, and managing already hectic schedules. Chiropractic care plays a crucial role in alleviating stress by removing interferences that allow your body to function and adapt appropriately. However, stressful situations are an inevitable part of life. Supporting your nervous system during this busy time is essential, and supplementation can be extremely effective. One supplement that stands out for its benefits to the nervous system is ashwagandha.

Ashwagandha: Nature’s Stress Reliever

Ashwagandha is an herb known for its ability to facilitate an appropriate response to stress and support mood. Here’s the basics on how you can incorporate it into your routine:

Dosage: A clinical dose of ashwagandha is 600mg/day and is best in the form of KSM-66 ashwagandha. KSM-66 is the full spectrum extract with the highest concentration compared to regular ashwagandha. It is most effective when taken daily.

Forms: Ashwagandha comes in multiple forms such as capsules, caplets, gummies, etc. but the best one to take is the capsule. Liquid can also be great, especially for sleep aid, but it is important to check out the label and avoid any with additives.

Timing: Ashwagandha can be taken at any time of the day depending on what your intended use is. The standard timing is immediately following your first meal; however, it can be taken with dinner if the intended use is for sleep support.

Who can take it: Ashwagandha is shown to be safe for almost everyone and research states it can even be useful for kids with ADHD and anxiety. If you are pregnant, or have any other health concerns, it is always important to check with your PCP.

While ashwagandha is most known for its effectiveness reducing stress, anxiety, and overall mood support, it also has a host of other benefits including cognitive and memory support, better sleep, boosts immunity, decreases inflammation, helps with cholesterol levels, and perimenopausal support.
